Bethany Thompson
Beth is currently pursuing a Master’s in Sustainable Resources at UCL. Prior to this, she worked in operations consulting at PwC where she was inspired to shift towards a career in environmental sustainability. She now focusses her efforts on tackling climate change and the global plastics crisis through promoting circular economy solutions and educational engagement.
Freja Newman
Freja’s background is in Media, Communications and International Relations. She has created content around climate change, conservation, and mental health. She founded a small Australian independent magazine with scientific, cultural, and artistic perspectives. She loves bush walks, looking after her friends’ dogs, and slow weekends doing not much at all.
Joseph Rattue
I am a caseworker, I studied languages, and I have a background in blogging, volunteering and copywriting. Having edited student newspapers and started my career as a support worker at a charity for homeless people and refugees, I enjoy applying the writing skills I learnt at university to policy.
Natalya Schroder
Natalya works in Sustainability at an architecture practice where she focuses on environmental and embodied carbon assessments, and is interested in biophilic design. She has a Master’s degree in Sustainability & Management. She volunteers with a food redistribution charity in London and enjoys escaping the city in her free time.

I recently graduated with a BA in Creative Industry Practice, following my previous studies in anthropology. Passionate about social justice, I am transitioning my career from the creative industry to journalism. My experience includes raising awareness about plastic pollution among Gen Z by organizing events and using music to bring people together
Alexia Bui
Alexia has a BSc in Environmental Science, is an ex-chef and a now- freelance copywriter. Her end goal is to make science accessible to everyone, and to influence more people to care about the world they live in. In idle hours, she loves to (creative) write, read, make things, and boulder.

Cecilia de Vos Belgraver, B. Journalism (Journalism and English), MA Journalism and Media Studies, Rhodes University, went from feature writing and corporate communication into freelancing for over 18 years, writing content, doing copy editing/subbing, and proofreading for clients in the commercial, government and non-government sectors in South Africa.

Aduragbemi Adesina
Aduragbemi is a researcher in biotechnology with cross-disciplinary expertise in chemistry, physics and biology. Adura has worked in academia for most of his career, following the path of sustainability, innovation and entrepreneurship. He is keen to help Scarab get the message out about plastic issues in our environment.
Ashwarya Chauhan
Passionate about sustainability and social justice, Ash grew up in India. Silver Medalist (LL.M.) and holder of a dozen research awards, and Ph.D. in Law offers, she is currently an aspiring solicitor. During her free time, she enjoys podcasts on geo-politics and creates vegan recipes inspired by her mother’s kitchen.

Muideen is a researcher and development analyst with expertise in open data, governance, and misinformation. He has worked across journalism, policy, and academia, leading fact-checking initiatives and contributing to global discussions on transparency. He is passionate about climate change issues, sustainability and information disorder.

I am an eccentric, passionate spirit. I enjoy spending time with family and friends as much as staying indoors with a good book. An avid mobile gamer dreaming of owning my game room, I am super friendly but not to be taken for granted, and I love doing meaningful activities that can benefit both me and other people around me.

Jimena is a biochemist and microbial ecology enthusiast. She has explored the essential roles of soil microbes, from their interactions with plants to their potential in cleaning up oil spills. Outside the lab, she can often be found hiking up the many mountains Scotland has to offer.

I’m Maria, originally from Mexico. I have an MSc in Wildlife Health and Conservation and a BSc in Zoology. I work in agricultural and environmental research. I have a passion for sustainable food production and wildlife protection in agricultural settings. I enjoy fishing, hiking, drawing, and gardening.

MSc in Agricultural Technology and Innovation. My background involves 20 years of experience in the agriculture industry, Additionally, researching the effects of climate change on sustainable agriculture and also the impact of agricultural practices on the environment. I love innovating for sustainable food production while minimizing environmental impact.

I'm a global politics graduate specialising in human rights, environmental politics, and urban strategy. I work as an environmental tutor for a conservation charity and am looking to further my career in research and advocacy. I'm interested in peacekeeping, the Middle East, renewable energy, and global biodiversity conservation.

MA in graphic design with 20 years’ experience leading and developing a wide range of projects. Extensive experience working with cross-disciplinary teams. Interested in use graphic design as a tool to help communicate environmental and biodiversity issues. Passionate about open-water swimming and the sea.
Stephanie Ross
Freelance copywriter, editor and journalist for almost 20 years’ experience in international development and sustainability. Passionate about engaging new audiences in core issues. I write for many organisations including Greenpeace and Comic Relief. I also enjoy gardening, reading and walking my cocker spaniel.
Evelyn Barth
Evelyn is a legal consultant with cross-jurisdiction expertise in commercial litigation. She shares a great passion for ESG and social justice. When not writing, she likes to play tennis, visit Hindu temples and synchronise with Mother Earth. Evelyn is enthusiastic to help Scarab get the message that every human being can act on the plastic issues in our environment.
Jacqueline Dodding
I am an educator and researcher working in higher education. Ongoing research includes discovering how teachers educate children and young people about the effects of climate change, and how much is known about the climate emergency by the next generation. My interests include gardening, reading, walking and learning Portuguese.
Kimberley Blythe
Kimberley has four years of experience in the education sector, supporting students’ writing and communication skills. She is dedicated to cultivating conversations about the environment, climate issues, ESG and DEI. Outside of writing, Kimberley enjoys reading and spending time in nature.

I have a postgraduate background in philosophy, specialising in philosophy of science. I enjoy academic and creative writing and blogging about mental health. I'm passionate about science communication and keen to educate on sustainability, climate change and the role of profit driven corporations in environmental collapse.

Johanna holds an MSc in Conservation Science and has over five years experience in conservation education. She is currently developing a wellness business. Passionate about creating positive impact for people, animals, and the planet. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, nature, and movement, especially dance and ice skating.

Georgie is a journalist and anthropologist who teaches English and volunteers at her local food bank. She loves walking her dog Muffin and taking photos of the deer, pigs, sheep and one-eyed horse on the common! She has her own Substack where she writes articles and shares travel stories.

I am a researcher and IT consultant in the UK (originally from India) and have worked for over 15 years in international technology firms and a management consultancy. The impact of technology on the environment is a particular area of interest for me. I am also interested in international relations and military aviation.
