Russian Federation is preparing for the plastic treaty
The whole thing is a very dangerous manipulation/alienation of the science of plastic
Thanks, Alexey, I just scanned your text, very interesting information, but I did not see anything about reduction of oil gas, base of the production of plastic. Tell me if I am wrong. Without reduction of production we go nowhere concerning Climate Change and plasti pollution
Regards

Hi there,
You are fully correct. This was one of the reasons to let global community know that there is such paper on the table.
Alexey
Thread:
Hi all,
The authorities here decided to start preparing for the coming Plastic Treaty meeting.
So far they are building up a scientific base for their position.
The fact that the national scientific conference translated its outcomes and made it as petition to everyone from the science world to sign made me to share it with you: https://microplastics.ru/declaration/
I think for all folks coming to Nairobi this position might be of some interest.
Best,
Alexey Kiselev,

Hi Alexey,
Thank you so much for sharing; this is really valuable information. The petition is certainly concerning, particularly points 3 and 6.1, as we continue to see more countries replicating these points with slightly different wording.
Kind regards,
Semee

Does it make sense for us to circulate this among scientists who disagree and come up with a list of "counter-signatories." Not sure what else to call them, but basically they would read this and say, no, we don't agree.

That sounds like a great idea. I am looping in Trisia in case she is not in the loop.

Also wondering how hard/easy it would be to link the signatories to the plastics industry in order to expose conflicts of interest.

Just checking this is not a clever phishing scam first… How can we tell? Looks like a lot of effort for a phishing scam!

My apologies to Alexey. I have just read the original email properly and see it is not a scam. There were some questions about this from our members due to some odd text in the petition, so I felt compelled to ask. I am onto it now.

I sent it to some scientist colleagues, I think an alternate letter would be even stronger.
