Global Plastic Laws
An extensive database and resource library focused on plastic legislation that has been passed around the world.
We are thrilled to share with you the Global Plastic Laws Database, a public tool to search legislation adopted across the world to address plastic. Plastic Pollution Coalition has teamed up with Environmental Law Alliance Worldwide, Surfrider Foundation U.S., and several members of BFFP Europe to create this Database of legislation covering the full “life cycle” of plastics. The laws were collected by subject-matter experts working on the ground in their respective geographic regions, with local language knowledge.
In addition to the searchable database, the website provides information on the plastic pollution crisis and highlights solutions while pointing out false solutions. It also includes blogs and stories about recent developments.
We hope this tool will be useful for your work. In particular, the Global Plastic Laws Database is uniquely positioned to be:
The primary global portal and resource center for activists, organizations, and policymakers focused on addressing the full “life-cycle” of plastics and eliminating plastic pollution through legislative change and policy action;
A key tool for BFFP members advocacy in the context of the UN Plastic Treaty negotiation process and beyond; and
A resource to support movement members working to secure ambitious policies at the regional, national, or local level that address the full life cycle of plastics.
We would love your help to spread the word about the Database:
Share the Database with partners and relevant actors, including decision-makers, in your country
Note that the Database is not fully comprehensive, as policies continue to emerge around the world. The Database team will keep adding relevant legislation and updating the Database. If you know of any legislation that you think should be added, please let us know.
We thank you for your support, and hope you will enjoy exploring the Database!
All the best,
Jen & the Global Plastic Laws Database team
