How do we avoid forever chemicals; what they are doing to our bodies

Plastics and Forever Chemicals: Governments might finally be taking action on forever chemicals📢

French lawmakers have today approved a bill designed to restrict PFAS (forever chemicals) because of their capacity to build up in the environment and people’s bodies, and the potential harm they can cause to our health.

"The law has many shortcomings – for instance it only bans the use of a limited number of consumer items while PFAS production serves some of the major industry sectors, such as the automotive or electronics sectors. Nonetheless, France is one of the first countries to act on what is both a public health and an environmental crisis and it should be applauded." Hélène Duguy, ClientEarth lawyer

The bill approved in France is far from perfect, even if an important step forward. There is much further to go.

“Common-sense restrictions on PFAS are overdue. The weight of scientific evidence on the harms of PFAS is now overwhelming. We need sweeping restrictions on PFAS for consumer and industrial uses now.”
